Transition period for health certification ends

1 July 2009 marks the end of the transition period for the introduction of the new animal health certificates for the importation of live fish, mollusc and crustaceans.

From the 1 July 2009 all imports must be accompanied by the new health certificates as laid down by the EU in Commssion Regulation (EU) No 1251/2008. Imports arriving in GB after this date must be accompanied by the new health certificates. Those failing to do so will be subject to follow up actions which may include - obtaining replacement health certificates, detention pending disease testing, non-release from the Border Inspection Post, removal of importer authorisation.

Where to find it:

We have placed copies of the certificates and some guidance on their completion in our Forms and Guidelines section.
